PostHeaderIcon Avoiding Pain At the Dentist’s Office

Have you ever stopped to wonder why so many people dislike going to the dentist’s office? Many people find even a basic checkup to be painful.

Before having your teeth cleaned, one of the dental hygienist’s duties is to check the health of your gum tissue. He will undoubtedly look at your pocket depths. You can then ask about using an oral irrigator known as the hydrofloss.

Here, for some people is where the trouble begins. When gum tissue is diseased, it feels a lot like someone shoving pins into your gum tissue. However, healthy gum tissue does not have that problem. Normally, dental probing will not invoke pain with healthy gum tissue.

So, if you are one of those who feels that the doctor or hygienist is shoving pins directly into your gums, it is very likely that you have some gum disease. Ask your dentist to verify and diagnose the condition.

Unfortunately, some dentists do not spend a lot of time educating patients about this problem. That situation can lead to greater problems for the patient.

Yet, after the problem has progressed to a certain point, they will offer you a special ‘deep cleaning’ or other relatively expensive treatment to help take care of your problem. Alternatively, they may refer you out to a periodontist for possible gum grafts or surgery. There is a nice oxygenated mouthwash called therabreath that might be helpful.

I can not imagine that sounds good to anyone reading this. Therefore, I might suggest that you focus more on the prevention of gum disease or stopping its progression once it starts.

Many people are surprised that they have gum disease. If the statistics are accurate, there should be no surprise. Those numbers tell us that up to 80% of people have some form of gum disease. PostHeaderIcon Dr Bates and Vision Improvement – The Natural Way

vision therapy

Dr Bates championed vision improvement and devised many different techniques which he claimed improved a patient’s eyesight. He claimed that strain on the eyes to see was infinite, and he devised a method of relieving the strain to improve vision.

He particularly explained that a set approach would not work for everyone, and so Dr. Bates became a well known alternative therapist. This is still widely practiced today.

He used techniques designed to dissociate strain and then achieve central seeing; which is the central point of vision omitting staring. He claimed that all errors of refraction and disturbances of function disappear when the eyes see by central fixation; and if there were any other associated conditions they too would be relieved. He also stated that exposing the eyes to sunlight would improve vision.

Medical associates have criticized Dr. Bates methodology and have stated what negative consequences could occur if patients followed the protocol; especially if their eyes are over exposed to sunlight. They also stated that it would be negligent to not wear corrective lenses while driving and would worsen or even cause serious implications to the eyes.

One of his techniques to vision improvement was closing the eyes which would help relax them; the patient would cover their eyes with their palms applying no pressure at all to the eyeballs. The theory behind this method was to eliminate light creating total relaxation of the eyes. Although some patients stated that they have illusions of light and colour; Bates claimed these would totally disappear when the eyes were relaxed.

The Bates Association for Vision Education are qualified professionals that teach the Bates method for vision improvement. The teachers mostly work with children, but offer individual lessons to adults.

Workshops and lectures centered around perfect vision. Training is offered on an ongoing basis. Pupils are taught how to improve their eyesight without having corrective surgery; as well as teaching how to increase the chances of eliminating degenerative eye disease. Black lettering is used as well as the swing method to help correct vision.

It is debatable as to whether these eye therapy methods really work; or maybe it is mind over matter and those that claim that there is improvement could be purely from "autosuggestion". Dr. Bates and vision improvement has no solid evidence of proof that this therapy actually works. However, many individuals claim that it does.

PostHeaderIcon Gingivitis and Gum Disease – Many Have It But Do Not Know…

gingivitis treatment

Gum disease can also be referred to as periodontal disease. It’s when your tissue and bone in your mouth are infected. This problem of gum disease needs to be treated otherwise you may notice not only your teeth getting worse, and losing them, but many other medical conditions.

Normally gingivitis will start when you don’t get all the plaque off your gums and teeth. Plaque is full of bacteria, and as that sits on your teeth and gums that bacteria will spread and will cause problems. Since so many different bacteria can live in your mouth it’s important to brush and floss each day, and make sure you go to the dentist often. But, if mere brushing and flossing were enough to stop this disease, why do so many people have it?   We must conclude that mere brushing and flossing are NOT enough to stop or prevent gum disease for many or even most people!  Check out ora md to see if it can help you.

So are some people more prone to periodontal disease? Some may inherit the way plaque will continue to build on their teeth, yes. But you can avoid gum disease by eating the right things and avoiding others. Don’t eat a lot of sugar, and after you’ve eaten something with sugar in it, rinse your mouth. The same thing should be said about drinking things.

If you have braces you’re going to have to work even harder to get that plaque gone, so brush even more. There are also certain medical conditions that may increase your risk of getting this disease. Those two include diabetes and Down syndrome.

Stress and not getting enough sleep can actually help lead to gum disease. So make sure you get enough sleep and eat correctly to help out your gums. Females may be more prone to gum disease than a guy would be, it’s due to hormones. Try out the therabreath products and if that is not enough for you, try therabreath plus and see if you find that helpful.

Of course we all know that tobacco is a huge cause of periodontal disease, especially chewing tobacco, so try avoiding that and smoking both to help out your chances of not getting gum disease. Brush your teeth often, and floss everyday too, but make sure you also head into see the dentist.

PostHeaderIcon Why You Should Reverse Gum Disease

For obvious cosmetic reasons you need to work on getting this disease reversed. But you also have many other reasons to do this and they are highly important.

Did you know that gum disease is caused by bacteria that are attack the tissue in your mouth? If not, you do now, and that’s what will lead to possible loss of teeth, or more medical problems. Gingival disease has been linked to causing heart disease, and even respiratory disease. If you have gum disease and/or bad breath, try the therabreath products and see if they will help you.

But too it is shown to cause low birth weights in infants who’s mothers have smoked during pregnancy.

So now you know why you should focus on how to reverse gum disease, it’s about so much more than just teeth. It could be your life that you are cutting short by not getting that gum disease taken care of. As the bacteria continue to grow the gums will begin pulling away from the teeth.

That will be after you’ve notice that when you brush or floss you will cause the gums to bleed. It’s best to head into the dentist at that point.

Periodontal disease is not much fun, find a way to defeat it now. Because it does appear that more people have gum disease than realize it, this is not a disease to trifle with.  Many major illnesses are associated with this disease.  Research indicates more strongly as time goes by that this is true.

Your gums will no longer have the healthy pink look they should. They will most likely be swollen and maybe tender. But your teeth could be at risk for falling out too. So protect not only your gums, and teeth, but also your life. PostHeaderIcon How Do You Know If Your Gums Need Help?

dental care

In this day and age, beauty really does matter and beauty often denotes health. The same thoughts can be applied to the gums. If you want beautiful gums, then they will obviously need to be healthy. How do you know if your gums are healthy? Well, really, that does not require a scientist – You should confirm with your dentist but here are the basics: You can determine this by examining them yourself. When you look at your gums in the mirror, do they look pink and not inflamed? Are your teeth clean and visually healthy? Do you make sure you get the plaque off of them every day? If so, then chances are, you have healthy gums. Here are some signs of unhealthy gums to watch out for.

Catching gum disease at an early stage is a great idea. At an early stage of gum disease, you will have tender, red and swollen gums. When you brush them with a toothbrush or floss them, they will bleed easily. You see, healthy gums never bleed when you regularly floss and brush them. At this stage, a hydro-floss might be helpful to you.

Generally speaking, gingivitis is not painful, so you may not notice any symptoms are present, which means you will not often catch it early for treatment. If you do not get this disease treated, then it is only going to progress forward. With gum disease often comes bad breath, try aktiv k-12  to defeat that.

When you have advanced gum disease, you may have bad breath no matter what you do. You could even end up losing your teeth. You may also have gums pulling away or receding from your teeth. Appropriate dental care is always important.
